Organization Mission

UNICEF in Turkiye works to protect the rights of children and adolescents in Turkiye since 1951. UNICEF”s programme in Turkiye focuses on the needs of the most vulnerable children in the areas of education, child protection, health care, social policy, adolescents and youth, in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Context

UNICEF is currently developing its online training on Anticipatory Action, which will be hosted on UNICEF’s learning platform and shared globally with UNICEF staff and partners. This training is developed by UNICEF HQ, Risk Analysis and Preparedness Section (RAPS) Anticipatory Action Team.

To ensure the training is accessible to a wider audience, including participants with hearing disabilities, we are engaging an Online Volunteer to provide an International sign language interpretation for the training video. This will contribute to UNICEF’s commitment to inclusive learning and preparedness capacity strengthening across regions.

Key Responsibilities

The Online Volunteer will:

Interpret the spoken content of the UNICEF Anticipatory Action Training video into International sign language. (length of video is 2.5 minutes)

Record the interpretation in a clear, high-quality video format.

Ensure the interpretation is accurate, contextually appropriate and reflects technical terminology related to humanitarian preparedness and anticipatory action.

Coordinate with the UNICEF team for any clarifications to maintain accuracy and alignment with the training script.

The final video editing and overlay will be handled by the UNICEF team. All necessary background materials and guidance will be provided.

Required Skills and Experience

Proficiency in International sign language interpretation.

Experience interpreting educational or technical content is an asset.

Previous experience creating sign language videos is desirable.

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and accuracy.
