Organizational Context and Scope
The Policy Adviser on Humanitarian Development Nexus will assist the UN Resident Coordinator and the United Nations Country Team (UNCT) by advancing the humanitarian-development Nexus (HD Nexus) approach, focusing on strategic, systemic integration of climate resilience and development in Pakistan. The Policy Adviser on Humanitarian Development Nexus will employ data-driven analysis and stakeholder engagement to develop and refine strategic frameworks that guide the UN’s interventions, ensuring alignment with national priorities and international assistance pillars, particularly in the context of Pakistan’s vulnerabilities to climate risks and natural hazards and suggest recommendations for Government & development partners. The Policy Adviser on Humanitarian Development Nexus will work under the overall supervision of the UN Resident Coordinator who will discharge his/her day-to-day functions as a member of the Office of the Resident Coordinator. The successful candidate will also be supervised administratively by the Chief of Mission, IOM Pakistan.

For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written). Working knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, and Spanish) is an advantage.

Recommended candidates endorsed by the Appointments and Postings Board will remain eligible to be appointed in a similar position for a period of 24 months.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment, accreditation, any residency or visa requirements, security clearances. Subject to certain exemptions, vaccination against COVID-19 will in principle be required for individuals hired on or after 15 November 2021. This will be verified as part of the medical clearance process.
