Iron Worker Journeyman

With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Ironworkers may perform any combination of tasks to assist on the construction site. This position performs a wide variety of duties and tasks that often require assisting other tradespeople, including laborers and carpenters.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Connecting columns, beams, and girders with bolts or welding them into place
• Reinforcing/tying rebar in concrete construction
• Unload and stack prefabricated steel
• Using metal shears, torches, and welding equipment to cut, bend, and weld steel
• Placing and setting heavy machinery
• Erecting and/or dismantling structural steel frames of structures
• Operating forklifts and other heavy equipment to lift steel columns, beams, and girders according to blueprints.
• Working at heights and from aerial work platforms.
• Rig structural-steel members to hoist cables using chains, cables, or rope

QUALIFICATIONS:

• A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in commercial construction, preferred
• Proficient in industry tools and equipment, such as hand and power tools and welding devices
• OSHA 10. preferred
• Operator’s certificate, preferred
• Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task
• Task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts

• Able to lift at least 35 pounds, unassisted, and stand for extended periods
