From the food you eat, to the water you drink, to the medicines you rely on, Eurofins laboratories work with the biggest companies in the world to ensure the products they supply are safe, their ingredients are authentic, and labelling is accurate.Eurofins is dedicated to delivering testing services that contribute to the health and safety of society and the planet, and to its corporate responsibility to protect the environment and ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion across the entire network of Eurofins companies.Job DescriptionWe are seeking a junior analyst to join our fast-paced water microbiology departmentThis is a full time role working 36.25 hours per week, on a rotating shift pattern which will include Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday. – 06:00-14:00 / 10:00-18:00.During training the normal hours will be 08:00-16:00 or 09:00-17:00. Staff will also be required to cover bank holidays on a rota basis. Flexibility in working hours is required and overtime will be required to be worked at short notice during peak business demands during the week and at the weekend.

• Preparation of media (agars etc.) to be used in microbiological analysis
• Sample preparation in line with company protocols
• Microbiological analysis of water samples in line with company protocols
• Training and operation of relevant equipment
• General housekeeping of laboratory and prevention of cross contamination
• Accurate Data entry into laboratory database
• Accurate record-keeping associated with UKAS quality system
• Effective communication with all employees
• Report any anomalous results or situations to Laboratory Supervisor
• Health and Safety procedures are adhered to within the laboratory

Qualifications

• A level in a science related subject (preferably Biology)
• GCSE English and Mathematics and Science or equivalent
• Computer literate with experience of MS Office applications (in particular Excel)
• Comfortable working in a busy environment
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately
• Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team

Desirable: * Educated to HND level in a relevant scientific subject

• Laboratory experience
• Experience of culture of microorganisms
• Knowledge of laboratory accreditation systems (ideally ISO 17025)
