The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) is an intergovernmental organization committed to advancing sustainable development in developing and emerging countries. GGGI’s “green growth” model integrates economic growth, environmental sustainability, poverty reduction, and social inclusion.
In Sri Lanka, GGGI collaborates closely with the Ministry of Environment (MoE) and other stakeholders to drive national efforts in climate adaptation, sustainable development, and carbon market engagement. GGGI serves as the delivery partner for projects such as the GCF National Adaptation Planning Readiness Support (NAPRS) Project and initiatives focused on mobilizing international and domestic climate finance. The GGGI Sri Lanka program is also working with several other Ministries, and other private sector stakeholders on green growth, sustainable development, and circular economy initiatives. These projects aim to strengthen resilience in vulnerable sectors and communities, promote low-carbon development, and support the country’s ambitions in sustainable finance and carbon markets.
We are seeking a motivated individual to support the implementation of GGGI’s expanding project portfolio in Sri Lanka, with an emphasis on sustainable finance, carbon markets, and climate mitigation initiatives. The Junior Program Support Consultant will assist in managing a healthy project pipeline, coordinating stakeholder engagement, and contributing to capacity-building activities, ensuring alignment with national and international climate priorities
RESPONSIBILITY
- Support the implementation of upcoming sustainable finance and carbon markets projects, focusing on mobilizing climate finance, developing mitigation projects, and strengthening the capacity of public-private stakeholders, while working closely with the Team Leader and Senior Fund and Business Development Officer to advance the Sri Lanka country project portfolio.
- Support the organization and coordination of relevant workshops, events, and conferences with government, private sector, and civil society stakeholders, ensuring effective engagement and follow-up.
- Conduct literature reviews and synthesize data to support project structuring, including pre-feasibility analysis and co-benefit assessments.
- Draft technical notes or briefs exploring topics such as adaptive capacity, horizontal and vertical climate adaptation planning, and mitigation opportunities aligned with national and international climate priorities.
- Assist in managing a healthy project pipeline by supporting to identify opportunities, supporting proposal development, and aligning with strategic national and sub-national climate goals.
- Contribute to development partner engagement by managing relevant updates, disseminating information, and supporting matchmaking efforts.
- Engage with the country team in sectoral policy dialogues to promote alignment of project activities with national priorities, such as NDCs, NAPs, and Article 6 strategies.
- Perform record-keeping, minutes-taking, and follow-up actions, ensuring alignment with project timelines and stakeholder requirements.
- Prepare and assemble briefing notes, reports, and presentations for meetings, workshops, and other key discussions.
- Assist the team with any other duties as required to ensure the effective delivery of project outcomes.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate degree/diploma in Sustainability, international relations, International Development or related field with At least 4-5 years work experience;
- Excellent communication skills (writing) in English and as well as national languages particularly writing and/or editing experience in one or more fields related to green growth/environmental science/climate change;
- Experience in content production, including report writing;
- Demonstrated ability to solve problems, multi-task, work independently and meet deadlines;
- Attention to details, high sense for quality and accuracy;
- Team player and a cooperative colleague with good interpersonal skills;
- Experience in International Organizations, development agencies, or the non-profit sector would be an advantage. Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary and multi-sectoral team environment would be an advantage.
