Animals, plants and microorganisms harvested and grown in water play a significant role in sustainably feeding and nourishing the world. Globally, 800 million people depend on small-scale fisheries and aquaculture for their livelihoods. But these vital aquatic food systems are hindered by the insecure livelihoods of those in related jobs, their low capacity to adapt to climate change, and the loss of marine nature.
The Asia-Africa BlueTech Superhighway (AABS) project, supported through the UK’s Climate and Ocean Adaptation and Sustainable Transition (COAST) program under the umbrella of the Blue Planet Fund (BPF), will focus on enabling communities to adapt to and mitigate against climate change as well as responsibly and sustainably manage marine and coastal nature and resources resulting in improved food and nutritional security as well as employment and income opportunities. The project will be implemented in two phases over seven years, starting with Phase 1 in Bangladesh, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, and Tanzania.
The objective of the Knowledge Coordinator is to facilitate and implement the knowledge sharing component of the AABS, fostering a rich community of practice where experiences and insights are shared among peers across different countries. This role will ensure that any resulting knowledge and information from the project is effectively shared and accessible to the AABS community and external stakeholders through WorldFish’s communications channels and the AABS Community Knowledge Hub. The role also includes knowledge management and communications support to other WorldFish initiatives and coordination with the WorldFish headquarters Communications Team to promote and disseminate AABS content through WorldFish channels.
The successful candidate will:
- Manage AABS’ Community Knowledge Hub
- Manage and curate content within the AABS Community Knowledge Hub, posting news and updates, organizing and moderating content to create a centralized resource and collaboration space for stakeholders.
- Promote the Community Knowledge Hub to key stakeholders to raise awareness of multimedia, reports and knowledge resources available.
- Facilitate community engagement and encourage knowledge-sharing and contributions from AABS partners, addressing content gaps as needed.
- Coordinate Knowledge Exchange Events
- Coordinate knowledge exchange events, including thematic webinars and learning visits between countries, as guided by the AABS Knowledge Management and Communications Specialist, with support from the AABS Project Team.
- Identify topics and develop event content with the Work Package Leads to foster an AABS community of practice.
- Support engagement at global and regional forums to share AABS knowledge with external stakeholders, including conceptualization, agenda development and panel coordination.
Develop Knowledge Products such as Knowledge Briefs and Blogs:
- Collaborate with the AABS Project Team to create high-quality knowledge products, including blogs, briefs and articles which capture project activities, results and insights shared at knowledge exchange events.
- Coordinate with the WorldFish Communications Team to promote knowledge products on different channels adapting content for different formats and platforms to reach diverse audiences effectively, all while maintaining consistent branding, tone and style for all AABS materials.
Manage the AABS Microsite:
- Oversee web content updates and liaise with WorldFish Communications Team to manage AABS information on the project microsite hosted on the WorldFish website, ensuring content remains current, accurate and reflective of AABS’ brand and messaging.
- Optimize AABS microsite materials for improved user experience and visibility.
- Analytics and Reporting
- Track and report on performance indicators on knowledge management and analyze the engagement of AABS content shared on WorldFish channels and the AABS microsite.
- Prepare monthly reports summarizing website and social media performance, insights and recommendations based on analytics data.
- WorldFish Knowledge Management and Communications Support
- Provide knowledge management and communications support for WorldFish and various projects as needed.
- This could include event support and the creation, curation and dissemination of content to enhance visibility, stakeholder engagement and impact across global initiatives.
Core Activities:
- Knowledge products created, and content coordinated – AABS knowledge products created and shared via WorldFish channels, with engagement insights.
- Updated website content – Regularly refreshed, accurate content on the AABS microsite.
- Community knowledge hub resources – Curated and organized content within the knowledge hub, readily accessible for stakeholders.
- Knowledge exchange events – In-person and online events and learning visits for the AABS community and at external forums.
- Monthly analytics reports – Reports detailing engagement metrics for AABS content with recommendations for improved outreach.
Requirements:
- This job might be for you if you have the below skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, digital marketing, journalism or a related field.
- Professional experience: Minimum 3-5 years in digital content management, social media coordination or community management
- Technical skills: Proficiency in web content management systems (CMS) and familiarity with analytics tools to assess content performance
- Communication skills: Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to effectively convey technical content
- Coordination skills: Experience working with cross-functional teams or in a collaborative environment is essential.
