Job Summary
Avient Corporation is seeking a full-time QC Lab Technician for our facility in Birmingham, Alabama. The individual will work with the Lab Engineer and lab team to prepare specimens and perform mechanical and physical testing and analysis as needed.
Essential Functions
- Complete all tests for each product
- Document results and analyze data
- Operate, maintain, and calibrate laboratory equipment
- Conduct retesting of product as needed to support quality investigations
- Adhere to safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures
- Maintain good housekeeping standards
- Respond to internal and external requests
- Work with fellow associates to obtain a complete understanding of the solution to an analysis
- Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience is required.
Qualifications
- Must have excellent laboratory skills, i.e. willing to handle chemicals, equipment, delicate instrumentation, etc. carefully and safely.
- Ability to multi-taks in a fast paced environment and bring projects to completion in a timely manner.
- Must be flexible and versatile in order to handle changing laboratory needs and serve a variety of functions or technologies as the business demands.
- Must have competent PC computer skills, e.g. Excel, MS Word, and PowerPoint.
- Must be able to effectively communicate one-on-one and in small group situations.
- Must have manual dexterity sufficient to use wide variety of standard lab equipment and ability to operate standard office equipment.
- Must have skills in manipulation of data, mathematical formula, calibration procedures, record keeping, and mechanical aptitude.
- Must have the ability to learn quickly to utilize software related to specific techniques.
