Description
The Department of Neurobiology is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join an innovative stem cell neuroscience research laboratory. This exciting opportunity offers hands-on involvement in cutting-edge research focused on brain development, neural regeneration, and advanced stem cell technologies within a collaborative academic environment. Responsibilities include supporting rodent-based neuroscience studies through animal handling and monitoring, assisting with stereotaxic surgeries and brain organoid transplantation procedures, performing tissue collection and histological processing, conducting immunohistochemical staining and imaging, and preparing samples for advanced molecular analyses, including single-cell and single-nucleus sequencing. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and an interest in neuroscience or translational biomedical research.

Hourly range: $26.23-$30.93

Qualifications

Required:

  • Demonstrated skills in animal handling, including rodent monitoring, anesthesia, and post-operative care.
  • Skills in Photoshop and Illustrator, and familiarity with microscopy image collection and processing software applications (ImageJ/Fiji, Zeiss ZEN, Imaris), and statistical analysis programs such as Prism.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with accuracy and attention to detail. Strong organizational abilities. Able to maintain complete and accurate records.
  • Demonstrated effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical information to technical and non- technical personnel at various levels in the organization
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to collaborate effectively with all levels of staff; technical, students, faculty and administrators.
  • Self-motivated and works independently and as part of a team. Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines
Preferred:
  • Demonstrated skills in tissue collection, fixation, processing, and cryosectioning.
  • Demonstrated skills in conventional and confocal microscopy.
  • BA/BS in neuroscience, molecular biology, developmental biology or equivalent experience preferred.
