Context & mission
Médecins Sans Frontières is an independent, international medical and humanitarian organization that provides care to people in need, people affected by natural or man-made disasters, and victims of armed conflict, without discrimination and without regard to race, religion, creed or political affiliation (MSF Charter).
The Learning and Developing Unit – L&D, plays a key role in contributing to the consolidation of MSF OCG’s learning culture and the development of MSF’s staff, by providing learning solutions, advise and support to all departments.
Among the different L&D solutions, transversal Programs and Trainings are intended to contribute to the integration, sensitization and professional development of staff, by addressing themes and supporting the development of skills and competencies that are transversal to the workforce, regardless of the department they belong to.
Transversal learning solutions include a variety of topics and support. The Transversal Trainer will be involved in the various programs that currently include (and can be enlarged according to needs):
- Support the Induction of new staff through the deployment of the “Welcome to MSF and Life on Assignment Programs”.
- Build and reinforce facilitation capacity through the deployment of Training of Facilitators – TOF Program.
- Raise awareness on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion – DEI issues and consolidate an inclusive culture through the implementation of the DEI Introductory Workshop and DEI 2 for managers and supervisors.
- Strenghthen Duty of Care through the facilitation of workshops and sessions to define action plans.
- Support Planetary Health (Climate, Environment and Health) learning strategy. Currently through the deployment of the Climate, Environment and Health Workshop.
- Other ad hoc support can include, but not limited to, supporting the deployment of People Management Trainings – PMT.
The person in this position must show a strong interest in the different institutional learning programs of MSF, and be ready and capable to adapt to the varied topics and audiences.
Scope of responsibilities
The Transversal Learning Trainer participates in the design, preparation, implementation, and follow-up of above mentioned transversal learning programs and solutions for the different departments or units/services of the organization, both in face-to-face and virtual mode. The main focus is on field implementation and support and the positions requires traveling between 70% to 80% of the time. The Transversal Trainer will also participate in the WIN – Welcome Induction Network, the intersectional platform responsible of the Welcome to MSF, to share experiences, practices and ensure all operational entities are aligned with the WtMSF.
These programs are part of OCG’s overall strategic plan and are adapted and developed based on operational needs. Additional topics or programs can be added to the portfolio depending on the evaluation of context and the learning needs.
Your profile
Education & Experience
- University degree or equivalent on Adult Education or Professional Facilitation, Professional Certification or at least 4 years of proven professional experience related to facilitaiton of learning solutions (this can include, coaching, mentoring, training, teaching, adult education, etc.).
- Minimum 4 years of proven work experience as a trainer and/or facilitator, with concrete examples of succesful experiences in designing and facilitation.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in MSF and knowledge and understanding of field reality.
- Having facilitated MSF training programs is an asset.
- Good knowledge and understanding of transversal themes realted to the position.

- Fluent French
- Fluent English
- Arabic or Spanish is a strong asset

- Familiar with online training tools (Zoom, Teams, Mural, etc.)
- Strong capacity to adapt to different contexts, audiences and thematics.
- Good knowledge of MSF operational contexts and realities.
- Available for frequent travels.
Terms of employment
- Fixed-term contract, until 31.12.2025
- Full-time, 100% (40h/week)
- Working place : Field-based position with visits to the headquarters in Geneva
- Practical working conditions in the field are in accordance with the MSF OCG volunteer manual.
- Ideal start date: April 1st, 2025
- Gross monthly salary: CHF 5’500.- based on 100%
- Benefits: Health insurance and living expenses in the countries of intervention and at headquarters, paid according to internal regulations.
