The Role and the Department
The School of Government and International Affairs (SGIA) is seeking to appoint a self-motivated individual to join our friendly administrative team from January 2025 as a permanent Learning and Teaching Assistant Manager to provide professional support for the delivery of world-class education programmes.
The School of Government and International Affairs is a UK (top 10) and globally-known school (top 100) with a focus on educating students with high quality, research-led teaching and encouraging them to display the highest levels of commitment to educational excellence. Supporting them to consistently innovate is a central feature of what the School does in order to ensure that graduates will have outstanding skills to take into the world of work.
The Assistant Learning and Teaching Manager will work towards enhancing the quality of existing programmes, contributing towards reviews and evaluation for the purposes of continual improvement. S/he will work closely with the Learning and Teaching Manager to work with colleagues to inform planning and developments in line with strategy and mission statements, implementing new programmes and initiatives. The Learning and Teaching Assistant Manager will have specific oversight of our new MSc in Public Policy and will be responsible for developing policies, processes, and developing, maintaining and coordinating relationships with external providers in relation to the Capstone project aspect to this specialised programme with scope for this oversight to expand to other programmes in the future.
The Assistant Learning and Teaching Manager will supervise a team of professional support staff, ensuring the provision of an efficient administrative service, supporting a wide range of teaching, learning and assessment activities from the point of student enrolment through to graduation, ensuring the student experience is at the forefront of delivery.

Qualifications/Experience
1. Five GCSE’s at least Grade C or level four (or equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics or a Post-16 qualification or equivalent experience.
2. Experience and expertise in the development and delivery of administrative services.
3. Experience of providing advice and guidance to a range of customers and colleagues.
4. Experience of implementing policies and procedures.
Skills/Abilities/Knowledge
5. Excellent spoken and written communication skills including the ability to develop effective working relationships, both internally and externally.
6. Strong digital competence across a range of digital devices and apps including Microsoft 365 applications (including SharePoint) and university software and programs.
7. Committed to continuing professional development.
8. Ability to plan and organise events and activities.
9. Ability to solve problems and decide on and plan appropriate solutions.
10. Ability to participate in networks to share and discuss good practice and exchange information.
11. Experience of establishing, developing and maintaining positive relationships internally and externally, with key stakeholders such as academic staff, external providers and internal colleagues.
Desirable criteria
12. Experience of supervising/managing a team and/or a line management qualification.
