The school serves an integral role in educating a part of the healthcare workforce in Alberta and beyond.The school offers undergraduate programs in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene and Dental Assisting. We offer graduate programs in Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Oral Biology, Oral Medicine, Orthodontics and Periodontology.There are 24 Faculty, 42 Academic Teaching Staff (ATS), and over 200 Excluded Academic staff that are supported by the Student & Academic Services unit.Our Mission: Improving the health of the people of Alberta and beyond through leadership in oral/maxillofacial health care, education, research/scholarship and providing service that is responsive to social need.PositionThe Learning Design & Quality Assurance Coordinator (LDQAC) reports directly to the Manager, Curriculum within the Mike Petryk School of Dentistry and plays a key role in the Association of Canadian Faculties of Dentistry (ACFD) Gap Training project.This role is pivotal in coordinating the development and assembly of resources for a blended delivery program (to be delivered in online synchronous and asynchronous formats in addition to online classroom, laboratory or clinically based environments); for implementing and supporting program evaluation, quality improvement, and educational assessment activities.DutiesThe LDQAC will be responsible to:

  • Coordinate with an instructional design team to support timely creation, review and finalization of learning resources.
  • Provide instructor support as module content is refined and prepared for presentation within an online format.
  • Refine design and development standards and work with a development team to produce a 12-module blended delivery Program to be delivered synchronously across 3 institutions.
  • Support faculty development and administration of program learning resources as a member of the implementation team.
  • Fulfill various roles to support program implementation which may include a variety of administrative, communicative and training requirements.
  • Participate in designing program evaluation and support administration of data collection across multiple institutions.
  • Provide initial analysis of program evaluation data in support of general reporting and decision-making needs.
  • Provides consultation to instructors and staff regarding ethical and/or philosophical issues relevant to educational technology (e.g. equity, copyright, plagiarism, privacy, safety, etiquette, and responsible use).
  • Use eLearning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate, H5P) to build interactive and engaging eLearning modules.
  • Review and support the development of resources (e.g. course materials, instructional videos, online quizzes, etc.) to support academic staff development involving curriculum design and delivery.
  • Coach faculty on the use of technology to deliver and support instruction (e.g. Zoom, eClass).

Qualifications

  • Masters degree is required, graduate degree in Educational Technology or a related discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in instructional design, training, and curriculum development, or related.
  • Knowledge of new and emerging teaching and learning technologies and how to integrate them into online learning.
  • Superior writing, speaking, and communication skills.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines, multi-task and balance numerous projects while maintaining a perspective on long-term program goals.
  • Strong general technology skills with a willingness to learn new tools and software applications, and experience with Articulate and H5P is an asset.
  • Experience working with campus e-learning tools such as Canvas, Zoom, and website editing programs such as HTML and CSS.
  • Experience with Google Workspace.
  • High level of knowledge in designing and delivering face-to-face and blended curriculum.
  • Understanding of contemporary best practice in higher education in relation to curriculum design, assessment and assurance of learning.
