The School of Cancer Sciences (CS), in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton, welcomes applications for the above post. We are looking to appoint two new academic posts, at either Lecturer or Associate Professor level, to support our strong, internationally recognised academic profile. Both posts will undertake globally recognised research, and work to attract significant research funding. You will contribute to the CS in a leadership and research capacity and contribute to our under-graduate and post-graduate educational portfolio.For both posts, we are interested in attracting excellent candidates from all areas of experimental and computational cancer research but are particularly interested in investing in the following research areas; 1) tumour immunology and the microenvironment 2) cancer immunotherapy, 3) lymphoid tumour biology and 4) computational cancer research.At Lecturer level, you should have

  • evidence of leading research projects through the publication of high-impact first/last author papers.
  • indication of attracting research funding commensurate with your early career stage
  • demonstrated a commitment to building a vibrant student experience, through your research and educational activities

At Associate Professor level, you should have

  • a proven track record in raising significant research funding.
  • demonstrated outstanding experience in leading and shaping your field of research.
  • an international reputation through sustained publication of research findings that have measurable impact.
  • established motivational leadership through research, education and enterprise roles.
  • the ability to innovate, engage, motivation and inspire students and colleagues.

At the Southampton General Hospital site, we have an outstanding and collegial research environment, with state-of-the-art laboratories and computational facilities, to support basic, translational and computational cancer research.
