Job Description:The Opportunity:We are seeking an ambitious and innovative Lecturer in Heritage to join our thriving research and teaching community within the School of History, Classics, and Archaeology at the University of Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering the MSc in Cultural Heritage Futures programme at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, while also contributing to undergraduate teaching and research in the Archaeology subject area. The successful candidate will deliver engaging courses on critical heritage topics, supervise dissertations, and develop original research in critical heritage studies. This role offers the chance to collaborate in an interdisciplinary environment, address pressing societal challenges through heritage data and practice, and make a lasting impact on the future of heritage research and teaching.This post is fixed term (15th August 2025- 31st August 2026) and full-time (35 hours per week); however, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. We are also open to considering requests for hybrid working (on a non-contractual basis) that combines a mix of remote and regular on-campus working.The salary for this post is UE08 £49,250 to £ £60,321 per annum. This post will be appointed at Grade UE08 Step1, which is £49,250 per annum.Your skills and attributes for success:

Between now and 2030 we will do that with a values-led approach to teaching, research and innovation, and through the strength of our relationships, both locally and globally.About the Team: Archaeological research at Edinburgh is focussed geographically primarily on Europe (including Britain and Ireland, and especially Scotland) and the Middle East, and extends in time from early prehistory to the medieval period. The main teaching clusters are: prehistoric archaeology, classical and historical archaeology, and science-based archaeology, notably including osteoarchaeology and forensic anthropology. Certain research interests, e.g. landscape archaeology, are represented across these clusters. Academic staff are actively involved in field research and excavation, presently including in Turkey, Italy and over continental Europe. First established a century ago, Archaeology at Edinburgh now has a sizeable and vibrant postgraduate community which complements the academic staff, whose numbers have grown over recent years. Alongside numerous international collaborations, Archaeology also benefits from strong links with the range of archaeological institutions and applied companies based in Scotland’s capital, as well as within and beyond the School in which it is based in the University.
