Duties and Responsibilities

This internship position is located at the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) at UN Headquarters in New York. CTED’s internships are for (3) months with the opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the Executive Directorate. Responsibilities Responsibilities of the internship position encompass all aspects of the Directorate’s work. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:  Assist in analyzing international, regional, and domestic legal instruments.  Support the preparation of documents for meetings with Member States” Permanent Missions to the United Nations in New York, as well as for the organization of CTED meetings and seminars.  Monitor relevant Security Council meetings and produce timely, concise briefing notes.

 

Qualifications/special skills

Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate degree programme in law (e.g. LLB, JD, LLM, PhD), international affairs, or political science.

 

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this internship, fluency in written and spoken English is required. Proficiency in another United Nations language is desirable.
