This internship position is located at the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (CTED) at UN Headquarters in New York. CTED’s internships are for (3) months with the opportunity for extension, pending on the needs of the Executive Directorate. Responsibilities Responsibilities of the internship position encompass all aspects of the Directorate’s work. These responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: Assist in analyzing international, regional, and domestic legal instruments. Support the preparation of documents for meetings with Member States” Permanent Missions to the United Nations in New York, as well as for the organization of CTED meetings and seminars. Monitor relevant Security Council meetings and produce timely, concise briefing notes.
Applicants must be enrolled in or have completed a graduate degree programme in law (e.g. LLB, JD, LLM, PhD), international affairs, or political science.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations. For this internship, fluency in written and spoken English is required. Proficiency in another United Nations language is desirable.
Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations. Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken, may be required to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization. Successful candidates should discuss their specific visa requirements before accepting the internship offer.
