Linux System Administrator
Overview
Spatial Data Science & Applied Learning Lab (SPACIAL), CIFOR-ICRAF, would like to hire a dedicated Linux System Administrator to manage ICT infrastructure (Linux servers, Hosted services, CICD pipelines). Following is a summary of responsibilities.
Summary of responsibilities
- Linux installations (server), upgrades, configuration, and management
- Patch critical vulnerabilities
- Server User management
- Assist/collaborate in trouble shooting OS level software issues
- Assist in trouble shooting hardware
- Install, configure and manage Server management software like Prometheus and Grafana.
- Take periodic application-level backups like databases (mysql, postgres) and data folders.
- Assist in CI/CD
- Collaborate with ICT for network infrastructure
Requirements
- BSc or MSc in computer science
- 2 to 4 years of experience managing Linux systems preferability as a Linux System administrator
- Excellent knowledge of virtualization including Dockerization
- Good knowledge of databases to backup and recovery planning.
- Ability to work in a team.

- This is a Locally Recruited position. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currencycommensurate with skills and experience.
- The duty station will be in Nairobi, Kenya CIFOR-ICRAF Offices.
