The OMFS H&N team in ELHT is looking to appoint a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial H&N Surgeon, with an interest in Head and Neck Cancer ablation and reconstruction. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, diverse, and motivated team of clinicians, with national/international reputation and an established practice based on quality of outcomes. The local demand for OMFS H&N surgery makes the unit one of the busiest in the Northwest. The successful candidate will be a core member of the dedicated weekly Lancashire & South Cumbria H&N MDT which covers a population of over 2.5M patientsMain duties of the jobWe wish to appoint a Consultant Oral Surgeon. This is a new post with the department tosupport with the delivery of our oral surgery waiting list.It is envisaged that the successful applicant will also offer general Oral & Maxillofacial servicesto the Trust and develop other interests mutually acceptable to the successful applicants andthe department.The three B’s is a geographical area covering the towns of Bolton, Burnley and Blackburn. Thepopulation serviced is approximately 1 million. The Maxillofacial inpatients and Trauma workare based at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital site. Outpatient and Daycase surgery iscarried out at all three hospital sites. The service is currently delivered by a team of eightConsultants in Maxillofacial Surgery, one of whom is part time, so these appointments indicatean expansion of the consultant establishment.About usThe ELHT OMFS H&N service covers a geographical area including the towns of Bolton, Burnley, and Blackburn. We offer services to a population of approximately 1 million .Outpatient clinics and Day Case surgery is carried out at all three hospital sites.All inpatient work, including major H&N surgery is carried out at the Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital site, with a support from a dedicated surgical ICU. We proud ourselves for continuing an uninterrupted H&N cancer service throughout the covid pandemic and having an established and standardised patient ERAS H&N pathway. The OMFS H&N team works closely with the ENT H&N team in ELHT, with mutual support and operating jointly when required.Our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care. We currently provide high quality services and treat over 700,000 patients a year from the most serious of emergencies to planned operations and procedures.
