Role Mission We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and experience with various machining processes. The machinist is responsible for operating a variety of machine tools with a high level of accuracy in our job shop environment. This position is not a manufacturing position. We are an electric motor repair shop, so most projects are unique to the customer and motor. Key Job Responsibilities
Setup and operation of machines to manually produce or repair parts.
Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizing and illustrations.
Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling and lathe work, using various engine lathes.
Balance mechanical assemblies using dynamic balancing equipment.
Perform various metalizing (metal spraying) techniques as needed.
Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, torch, and stick welders.
Set up and perform tool-post fringing operations (e.g. precision surface facing), broaching procedures and bearing work.
Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to: band saws, belt sanders, hand grinders, files, etc.
Perform outside field service repairs and estimating work as necessary.
Observe all safety procedures and policies and use proper protective equipment (especially eye, ear protection and steel toe shoes/boots, gloves, etc.)
Keep work area clean and organized.
Adhere to all company policies.
All other duties as assigned.
Competencies
High School Diploma is required. Technical Certification or Associates Degree in a related field is preferred.
Experience in rotating apparatus repair (AC and DC electric motors, pumps, blowers, etc.) preferably in an electric motor shop environment.
Experience in manual machining of parts and pieces to produce or repair a product.
Mechanical skills in troubleshooting, electrical theory and understanding of AC and DC motors desired.
Understanding of Microsoft Office products is ideal.
Must be a self-starter and able to work independently.
Must have the ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
