Maintenance Repairman 1

The Department of General Services is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Repairman 1 who enjoys hands-on work and problem solving. This position supports the upkeep and repair of Commonwealth buildings through a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled tasks. It plays an important part in ensuring that facilities stay safe, functional, and well maintained. As a Maintenance Repairman 1, you will perform the following duties:

• Carpentry Support: Install and repair partitions, fixtures, furniture, and floor materials
• Door and Hardware Work: Repair doorframes, adjust closures, and maintain hinges and locks
• Electrical Assistance: Replace lamps, clean lenses, and assist electricians with larger projects
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform minor repairs on small motorized equipment and report major issues
• Plumbing Tasks: Clear drains, fix leaks, replace parts, and provide first response to plumbing issues
• Painting and Surface Prep: Prepare surfaces and apply paint to interior and exterior areas

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• This position is essential for reporting to work in the case of emergencies and office closings.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

Special requirement:

• You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver’s License.
