About the opportunity:

Performs breast imaging procedures including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, and screening breast ultrasound (ABUS). Works under the Breast Imaging Supervisor to oversee day to day department and staff functions. Helps train other Mammography students or technologists, and assists the Breast Imaging Supervisor with conflict resolution and staff or radiologist concerns. Follows MQSA and ACR guidelines for breast imaging

What you will do:

  1. Demonstrates knowledge of breast anatomy, pathological conditions, and safe administration of radiation.
  2. Working knowledge of all Mammography and stereotactic equipment, examinations, protocols, and procedures that require the use of contrast agents and sterile techniques.
  3. Ensures equipment quality is within safe limits per MQSA and ACR guidelines prior to daily use.
  4. Identifies and reviews patient’s requisition for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and reviews all demographic information for the physician and patient to ensure accuracy.
  5. Performs breast imaging and reviews examinations for technical accuracy, presents completed examinations to the radiologist, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the continuum of patient care.
  6. Clearly communicates, educates, and guides patients prior to, during, and after breast imaging procedures, to support patients and loved ones to the next step of their breast health.
  7. Schedules breast imaging appointments and assists in coordinating breast imaging exams to ensure the quality and continuity of patient care.
  8. Enters pathology into the patient’s medical record.
  9. Monitors compliance with recommendations for follow-up studies.
  10. Supports Breast Center administrative needs.
  11. Promotes breast health education by assisting in organizational promotional/educational events.
  12. Acts as an expert clinician who demonstrates a high level of knowledge/expertise and is a leader/resource to the healthcare team.
  13. Acts as a team player and encourages a team environment reflected in employee engagement and satisfaction scores.
  14. Assists in staff development and success reflected in staff engagement scores.
  15. Participates in the hiring process of all personnel.
  16. Participates and leads others in the orientation of new employees and healthcare professionals.
  17. Prepares cases and necessary paperwork for Tumor Board.
  18. Assists with the management of department workflow to ensure completion of staff work assignments and proper patient charges.
  19. Organizes, monitors, and orders medical supply inventory to assure cost effective departmental spending.
  20. Performs and documents quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) per MQSA, and ACR guidelines.
  21. Maintains documentation and assists with preparation for MQSA accreditation and state inspections.
  22. Maintains 24 CEU credits according to A.R.R.T. guidelines every two years and stays current with CPR certification.
  23. Role models the principals of a Just Culture and Vail Health Values.
  24. Performs other duties as assigned.
  25. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of experience preferred. Experience in healthcare required.

License(s):

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) with Mammography (M) required.

Certification(s):

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) by the American Heart Association (AHA) required.

Computer / Typing:

  • Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.

Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.

Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour.

Hourly Pay:

$46.82—$66.14 USD
