SUMMARY

The Manager, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals will advance the philanthropic mission of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center by leading the cultivation, stewardship and fundraising activities of local Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals not-for-profit partners on behalf of Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Foundation.

The position works very closely with external partners, including senior executives, and must maintain extensive knowledge of and adhere to highly complex fundraising and engagement duties as laid out by Connecticut Children’s and the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

This position reports to the Vice President, Corporate and Foundation Relations.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages an active portfolio of donor and prospect relationships capable of supporting Connecticut Children’s through Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Works with local CMNH education and other nonprofit partners as they fundraise on behalf of Connecticut Children’s.

Designs and executes CMNH peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives, including but not limited to dance marathons, gaming fundraising drives, and more. Undertakes CMNH communications with peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns on behalf of Connecticut Children’s. Crafts communications messaging and marketing materials in support of campaigns.

Focuses on the achievement of CMNH’s fiscal year objectives.

Creates CMNH budget and adheres to budget – managing expenses and revenue – throughout the year.

Maintains working knowledge of all CMNH programs and policies.

Solves complex problems related to partners and peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives; takes a broad perspective to

identify innovative solutions.

Develops strategies, executes proper training exercises for volunteers to support events and helps facilitate attainment of fundraising goals.

Proactively seeks informational needs of internal/external customers and uses customer feedback to assess, determine course of action and implement plan to improve/enhance services.

Collaborates on general and tailored donor stewardship strategies that strengthen relationships with assigned and prospective nonprofit and other partners; establishes and maintains effective relationships with internal/external customers and works to develop trust that delivers success.

Possesses broad knowledge of all CMNH institutional relationships – including with CMNH headquarters, peer to peer fundraising partners, and corporate partners.

Supports initiatives identified by Connecticut Children’s senior management.

Facilitates appropriate acknowledgement, recognition and stewardship of fundraising initiatives.

Performs additional activities related to the Foundation’s efforts as required.

Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of Connecticut Children’s through behaviors that are consistent with the Core Behaviors and Leadership Behaviors.

Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and donors.

Volunteers and interns as necessary.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Education Required:

Education Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience Required:

Experience Preferred:

Minimum of one-year experience in fundraising, public relations or related field is preferred.

Experience in a corporate environment is preferred.

LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED

Valid driver’s license for use in the state of Connecticut

Demonstrated experience working in a team setting.

Strong verbal and written skills, well organized, self-directed with ability to meet deadlines.

Ability to build, develop and maintain relationships with external partners, including university representatives at myriad levels, as well as other organizational representatives.

Ability to work with a positive attitude within the context of a team environment and a network of relationships.

Ability to oversee the work of nonprofit and university partners, including dance marathon management teams and Extra Life fundraising teams, to influence their decisions.

Must possess basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Systems.

Discretion working with sensitive information and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time.

Ability to move large event-related items as needed.

Must have reliable transportation and be able to drive throughout the state as needed.
