Shriners Children’s Chicago offers specialized care for a wide range of pediatric orthopedic, bone and joint conditions, including rare diseases and syndromes. Other specialties include spine and scoliosis care, plastic surgery, cleft lip and palate care, comprehensive rehabilitation and spinal cord injuries.

Job Overview

Shriners Children’s Chicago has an opportunity for a Full-time Manager, Health Information Management (HIM). Join a team of professionals committed to improving children’s lives. The salary range for this position is $79,310.40- $99,153.60/annually. Compensation is determined based on years of experience and departmental equity.

Responsibilities

    • The Manager, Health Information Management is responsible for managing, coordinating and performing day to day HIM departmental operations and staff supervision.
    • The HIM Manager will oversee and implement facility related HIM operational planning, initiatives, budgets, workfow processes and internal controls.
    • Responsibilities include: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing workflows, appraising employee performance and rewards, addressing complaints and resolving problems, actively overseeing and managing production and quality control efforts, supporting local colleges with education of HIM students, serving as the facility Privacy Offier and designated Facility Records Custodian.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Associates degree in Applied Science – Health Information Management
  • 3 years experience in Health Information Management (HIM)
  • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) through AHIMA
  • Strong Leadership Skills

Preferred:

  • Ability to provide effective leadership to assigned staff and utilize appropriate management methods and practices.
  • EMR knowledge, preferably EPIC and/or Cerner
  • Joint Commission Exposure
  • Budget Exposure
