The Manager, HIM Applications & Processes manages the oversight of the supervisor of scanning area, enterprise master patient index staff, forms system administrator and forms design staff, and Data Compliance Analyst. This position provides support for all Health Information (HIM) related electronic record applications, forms design/revision repository applications and other applications including Release of Information, Deficiency Management, Document Management/Scanning, Coding and Abstracting, and ongoing record review Plato System. Incumbent is responsible for collecting, analyzing, documenting and mapping current workflow processes to develop (define) new job based roles and procedures to ensure maximizing operational effectiveness and efficiency. The manager will assist in the design of the future state processes that take advantage of electronic technology capabilities to streamline current processes, remove identified inefficiencies and bottlenecks and maintain a high level of patient safety. The manager will create test plans, test cases/scripts, assist with system updates and training of end users.

Required Skills
- Ability to collect, analyze, document and map workflow processes and develop new job bases roles and procedures.
- Ability to analyze problem areas, bottlenecks and inefficiencies to streamline procedures.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills, including clear and concise training presentation skills.
- Ability to create written materials tailored to the audience in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to meet deadlines by recognizing best use of time and working with end results in mind.
- Knowledge of various software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, health information document management systems and scanners, and forms design/revision software.
- Assist users by designing and generating standard and ad hoc reports.
- Assist users in implementing and monitoring quality of data.
Required Experience
Required:
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA).
- Bachelor of Science (BS) from an accredited AHIMA approved program.
- Previous management experience required.
- 3-5 years of recent experience in an acute care hospital setting working in a Health Information Management Department.
- Previous experience working with an electronic medical record and forms design/revision software. Requires advanced computer skills, infrastructure and client/server application.
- Knowledge of Joint Commission and Title 22 documentation requirements.
Preferred:
- Experience in process flow mapping, project management or experience as a system analyst.
