Purpose

As a valuable team member in the Internal Control group, you will contribute to the success of Records and Information Management, U.S. Issues Management, and Controls Framework. This position adds value by providing expertise in ensuring effective governance, procedures, and processes within the Internal Controls department. It involves leading and influencing discussions within Scotiabank 

What You’ll Do 

  • Records Management:
  • Establishing and ensuring maintenance of Records Inventory appropriate to the Bank’s activities and in compliance with the applicable regulatory requirements
  • Improve processes within Records and Issues Management to ensure that they are both efficient and effective to meet internal and external requirements
  • Coordinate and complete ad-hoc requests related to Internal Controls from internal and external stakeholders.
  • Drive cross-functional initiatives within Internal Controls independently.
  • Review, update, and maintain all related policies and procedures.
  • Issue Management:
  • Coordinate with issue owners ensuring issues are well documented with clear action plans
  • Creating and maintaining dashboards and reports for senior management and executive committees.
  • Review, update, and maintain all related policies and procedures
  • Regulatory and Controls:
  • Enhance control for optimal effectiveness and efficiency by ensuring adherence to governance frameworks, policies, and regulations
  • Ensure clarity and accuracy in regulatory responses within Internal Controls.
  • Ensure that activities for Internal Controls are aligned with the Bank’s risk appetite and culture.

What You’ll Bring 

  • Experience with non-financial risks, controls, and regulations for the Capital Markets businesses.
  • Communication: Strong written and oral skills.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional editing skills.
  • Microsoft Office: Expert in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. With knowledge of business intelligence/automation tools.
  • Organization & Project Management: High ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks.
  • Curiosity & Research: Strong capability to gather insights and background information.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Skilled in building and managing relationships, including with Senior Executives.
  • Leadership: Demonstrate significant maturity, credibility and sound judgment in dealing with senior management across business lines, risk management and support groups.
  • Strategic Vision: Strong in strategy development, planning, and problem-solving in fast-paced environments. Capable of working autonomously or collaboratively.
  • Adaptability & Problem-Solving: Able to work in fast-paced environments, handle tight deadlines, solve complex problems, and balance conflicting priorities while maintaining high-quality standards in presentation and written communication.
