The roles represent a career opportunity in an environment of collaborative working within Industry. You will work closely with existing Manufacturing Engineers to utilise and adopt the techniques, systems and processes currently applied to achieve process control and cost reduction within the Operations sphere.The role will form a part of the Thales UK’s Manufacturing Engineering capability. It is our aim with this role to increase the knowledge base of our highly skilled Manufacturing Engineering staff. The successful candidate will require the skills, knowledge and experience to be embedded within our business. We are looking for high-potential candidates that are involved or interface with development and production activities.Key Responsibilities:
- Key member of the Manufacturing Engineering team implementing Design for Manufacture and Assembly techniques and providing full process technical support to the manufacturing team.
- Work in the upstream phase with Methods and the Technology departments (HW Engineering) to ensure the necessary MRL for projects
- Delivering production processes that will deliver on time and to budget
- Drive process implementation and validation to support both manufacturing and pre-production.
- Influence and monitor product maturity from concept to series production.
- Using structured problem solving techniques to minimise production downtime
- Support manufacturing in identifying and implementing continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure a level of governance around Manufacturing data packs and processes
Experience and skills required
- Current experience in Manufacturing, Process or Industrial Engineering would be preferred, however we are open to individuals with a strong understanding of Shop floor environment and collaborating with Hardware/Design Engineering for DfM or DfA
- Strong relationship builder, able to successfully manage stakeholders at different organisational level of Industry
- Experience of Manufacturing processes implementation
- Experience of product line activities, routings, visual aids, corrective actions and product costing
- Continuous Improvement focus, ideally with knowledge or experience of Lean techniques.
- Degree qualified in a relevant subject would be advantageous
