Full-time Shift(s): MON TUE WED THU FRI 2:30pm – 11:00pm

OVERVIEW:

Working as Full-time Manufacturing Heat Treat operator, you will be helping our current Heat Treat operators manage the throughput by receiving in products to be heat treated and moving completed products to their designated location. You will be operating a forklift and pallet jack to complete these tasks, along with various hand tools to build and secure loads. As this position progresses, you will be learning and executing the operation of heat treatment furnaces to process parts to correct written specifications. Fully trained operators will be receiving and scheduling incoming product, building and mapping loads, processing and testing completed loads, and load breakdown. This is an entry-level position that motivated employees can use to begin their journey through numerous opportunities Fastenal has to offer. This position may offer a flexible schedule after a period of onboarding, training, and meeting performance goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

o Preparing and mapping furnace loads for processing

o Adjusting and monitoring furnace equipment controls

o Transferring furnace loads into and out of thermal processing equipment

o Recording and documenting the processing of materials/parts through the heat treating department

o Inspecting metal parts for hardness and other specifications

o Reporting equipment malfunctions and repairs needed to the appropriate authority

o Operating scale removal/surface finishing equipment to finalize surface finish upon completion of the heat treatment process

o Repacking heat treated parts for further processing

REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

The following skills and qualifications are required for this position:

o 18 years of age or older, due to the nature of work

o Possess a current full valid driver’s license issued in the country where the job is located (including successful completion of any applicable graduated license program for your state or province) as well as the ability to meet our driving record requirements to use a company vehicle, as needed

o Excellent written and oral communication skills

o Proficient computer skills

o Demonstrate strong math aptitude, attention to detail and sense of urgency

o Demonstrate strong organization, planning and prioritizing abilities

o Learn and perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment

o Work independently as well as in a team environment

o Demonstrate our core values of ambition, innovation, integrity and teamwork

o Lift, slide, carry and lower packages that typically weigh 25lbs-50lbs and may weigh up to 100lbs

o Pass the required drug screen (applicable in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam ONLY)

PREFERRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

o Working knowledge or experience of heat treating and induction heating equipment

o Prior forklift or material handling equipment experience
