Materials Specialist I

Howmet Fastening Systems (HFS) is seeking a Materials Specialist I (Parts Mover) in our Torrance, CA location. HFS is a business unit of Howmet Aerospace, headquartered in Torrance, California. We hold the number one global position in aerospace fastening systems, and we’re the North American leader in commercial transportation fasteners. Our high-tech, multi-material fastening systems are found nose to tail on aircraft and aerospace engines. Our products are also critical components of industrial gas turbines, automobiles, commercial transportation vehicles, and construction and industrial equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Move parts in timely manner to next operation
• Expedite work orders thru manufacturing processes to achieve monthly targets
• Follow up on critical orders on a daily basis
• Work with planner, procurement, product engineer and quality engineer to move parts on hold
• Updates MRP system upon moving parts to next operation
• Help production to perform 100% sort or rework if needed
• Perform other tasks as needed in support of manufacturing operations, customers, and suppliers
• Comply with all EHS rules and regulations and supervisory instructions. Report all incidents including injuries, spills, fires, property damage, and near misses to their supervisor
• Able to work with minimum or no supervision
• Practice 5S standards and keep area clean daily

Skills:

• Solid interpersonal and communication skills.
• Employee will lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
• Ability to read and interpret blue prints, work instructions, policies and procedures.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work with Microsoft Office and MRP system

Basic Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General education Degree (GED) preferred.
• Minimum of 1 Years of Materials, Warehouse, parts moving experience.
• Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
• This position entails access to export-controlled items and employment offers are conditioned upon an applicant’s ability to lawfully obtain access to such items.
