Posted on: Feb 27, 2025Posted by: Town of EdsonSummaryThe JobThe Town of Edson is looking for a skilled, full-time, permanent Mechanic to maintain and repair a variety of vehicles and equipment, ensuring they run safely and reliably. Reporting to the Fleet Supervisor, your responsibilities will include routine maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical issues, welding, cutting, and keeping detailed maintenance records. You will also provide input on major repairs and new purchases, while actively participating in workplace inspections to uphold safety protocols.The CandidateWe are seeing an experienced HD mechanic with a dual trade certification, ideally with expertise in both automotive and small equipment repair. You will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work well in a team, all while following safety protocols. If you’re hands-on, love solving mechanical problems, and take pride in keeping equipment in top shape, this is the job for you.In addition to the above, we require applicants to have the following:

  • Grade Twelve Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Alberta Class 3 Driver’s License with air brakes
  • Provide all necessary tools to conduct the work of a mechanic
  • Perform work under limited supervision

  • Provide regular preventative maintenance on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Provide repair work on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Conduct basic welding and cutting duties.
  • Shall provide assistance with respect to advice on major repairs, replacements, new purchases, etc.
  • Maintain a thorough and complete record of all preventative maintenance and repair work conducted on all vehicles and equipment.
  • Assist in the receipt of goods delivered to the Public Works Yard and garage.
  • Attend position related seminars/courses as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Actively participate in Formal Workplace Inspections in area of responsibility
  • Review pertinent Hazard Identification, Assessment and Control worksheets on an annual basis as required by the Municipal Health and Safety Program
  • Follow all Safe Work Practices and Procedures
  • Immediately report any unsafe conditions, potential work hazards or incidents to Supervisor
  • Perform other related duties as directed by the Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Grade Twelve Diploma or equivalent.
  • Hold a valid Alberta Class 3 Driver’s License.
  • Hold a current valid Alberta Certificate as an Automotive Mechanic.
  • Provide all necessary tools to conduct the work of a mechanic. 
  • Perform work under limited supervision.
