University of Iowa Health Care is seeking a patient-centered 60-80% (24-32 hours a week) Medical Assistant II to work in our Bettendorf Family Medicine Clinic. This position will mainly support our Family Medicine Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Pediatrics, Dermatology, Endocrinology, and Specialty/Outreach Clinics.

Duties to include:

  • Staff will support our Family Medicine Clinic patients.
  • Under direct supervision of physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner or registered nurse.
  • Performs technical, patient care and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting.
  • Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and/or conventional office equipment.

Percent of Time: 60-80% (24-32 hours per week)

Schedule: Variable hours accomplished between Monday – Friday from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM; no weekends, no on-call, and no holidays.

Location: Bettendorf, IA (and surround clinics/locations based on clinic needs)

Pay Grade: 09

Salary: $40,110.48 – $59,570.64 at 100% time (based on years of experience)

Minimum Eligibility Requirements

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant OR
  • Registration as a Medical Assistant OR
  • Completion of a recognized one year Medical Assistant Program, OR Completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program including but not limited to pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration including dose calculation and psychology (include educational transcripts during application process)

Special Qualification:

  • Driver’s License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards
  • Availability to provide support to other clinical locations based on clinical need/hours

Highly Desirable Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 months ambulatory experience.
  • Previous Epic experience.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous laboratory experience.
  • Experience with patients of all ages.
  • Previous phlebotomy experience.
  • Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association
  • The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience fostering a welcoming and respectful work/academic environment.
  • Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position.
