The Medical Education Program Specialist is responsible for coordinating the planning and implementation of block and longitudinal courses for first- and second-year College of Medicine students under the direction of the OCA Director, the Phase 1 curricular Dean, and other administrative leaders. This role supports daily instructional activities, student attendance tracking, course evaluations, and communications while also assisting with co-curricular programs, special projects, and key student events such as orientations and exam proctoring. The role requires the ability to work independently as well as a member of a team.
Duties & Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the Director of Curricular Affairs, the senior Phase 1 Medical Education Program Coordinator, and Phase 1 Project Manager, assists with coordination of daily instructional activities, assessment, course evaluation, communications, and general problem solving for block and longitudinal, first- and second-year College of Medicine courses.
• Follows-up and tracks student attendance and quiz completion in the M1 and M2 curriculum. Reports and tracks issues with the Phase 1 Attendance Policy and local procedures.
• Monitors and responds to student emails and communications via Slack. Attends, participates on, and provides feedback to the Slack Strategy
• Committee. Assists Associate Dean with bi-weekly communications with students, faculty and staff.
• Under the direction of the OCA Director and Assistant Dean for Phase 1, acts as OCA liaison providing support to the Student Curricular Board and other co-curricular student groups including the Mentors Program.
• Participates as an ex-officio member in College of Medicine curricular planning committees.
• Performs other related duties and participates in special projects such as M1 and M2 Orientation, COM exam proctoring, and other events for students.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. Any one or combination totaling four (4) years (48 months), from the categories below:
   1. College coursework in medical education, education, communications, public relations, or a closely related field as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      • Associate’s Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      • Bachelor’s Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
   2. Progressively more responsible clerical or secretarial experience, including a background in electronic word processing and database management systems.

Please Note: Completion of the Training Administrators of Graduate Medical Education Programs Certification (TAGME) from the National Board for Certification of Training Administrators qualifies applicants for each level of this series.
Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in data collection, research, education, or medical field.
• Knowledge of a variety of accreditation standards for medical education programs.
• Knowledge of basic accounting.
• High level of organizational skills.
• Experience in Excel, Word, Outlook, and Zoom.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Highly organized; able to helpfully follow-up with faculty and students as needed; able to move projects forward and see them through to completion.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Ability to communicate and work cooperatively and helpfully with all levels of the COM administration, as a member of a team, which includes the OCA as well as other office teams, COM leadership, deans, faculty, and physicians.
