We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Medical Secretary to join our friendly practice team. The candidate would have experience of using Emis (clinical System), good sound knowledge of medical terminology and have worked as a Medical Secretary within the NHS. The Candidate must be accurate, have good communication skills, be a team player and also be able to work flexibly in the absence of colleagues. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. Salary it will be based on experience.Main duties of the jobKey Responsibilities –
- To provide an efficient copy typing and word processing service for GP’s and Health Professionals as required. This includes the typing of letters, reports, patient referrals and notifications in an accurate and timely manner.
- To make appointments and bookings as required using the E-Referral service pathway
- To Maintain the Emis /Docman tasks in an accurate and secure manner
- To check and ensure all two week wait referrals have been received by hospitals/third parties.
- To provide covers for members of the secretarial team during periods of sickness and annual leave
- To received and dispatch mail
- To consult the internal communication portal on a daily basis
- To receive incoming and initiate outgoing telephone calls in order to facilitate timely and appropriate communications with others, taking messages and dealing with referral queries.

Assisting with the gathering of statistics and information, when required.
