What You’ll Do
  • Assist maintenance personnel when requested/needed
  • Be alert of unsafe conditions at all times and report them immediately
  • Effectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needs
  • Ensure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shift
  • Ensure the tasks and activities as directed by operations support management are carried out in a safe and timely manner
  • Perform minor/routine maintenance or repairs as needed without the assistance of maintenance personnel
  • Responsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and procedures
  • Responsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work area
  • Troubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with others
  • Understand start up, shutdown, and emergency procedures
  • Work safely to prevent on the job injuries by always following safety rules and regulations including proper wearing of company PPE
  • Train in all areas of the Melt Shop to include Furnace, Ladle Furnace, Casting Machine, and Refractories
  • Assist arc furnace personnel with between heat turnarounds
  • Assist the Furnace Operator when tapping electric arc furnace
  • Assist Utility Operator and Assistant Furnace Operator with the exchanging of electrodes
  • Assist Utility Operator with filling alloy, refractory, and carbon hoppers at furnace
  • Assist with cleaning and filling the tap hole after each heat
  • Prepare heat samples and forward samples to the lab
  • Prepare thermocouples, oxygen probes, lances and test molds for use
  • Take slag samples as required
  • Support the furnace operations by ensuring the highest productivity levels and producing quality products
What You’ll Need
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs
  • Must be able to learn quickly and multitask
  • Willingness to work a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work overtime as required, including planned schedules and unplanned emergency situations
  • Ability to work in environments with exposure to temperature extremes, chemicals, dust, fumes, mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spaces
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods of time
Your education
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
