With a history of collaborating on high-impact projects, STOOS has been providing expertise to international development and humanitarian programs, particularly in regions like the Middle East, Eastern Europe, and Africa. The company works closely with clients and stakeholders to deliver data-driven insights that influence policy, project design, and implementation. We are now looking to expand our team by bringing on an MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) Expert who will support our work on mental health-related evaluations, assessments, and research initiatives.
Position Summary:
STOOS is seeking an experienced MHPSS Expert to contribute to evaluations, assessments, and other research projects related to mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS) interventions. The successful candidate will work closely with STOOS’ teams to design, conduct, and analyze evaluations and research focused on MHPSS topics, providing evidence-based recommendations for improving interventions and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Evaluations and Assessments: Lead and contribute to evaluations and assessments of MHPSS programs, including the design of research tools, data collection, and analysis.
- Provide Technical Expertise: Advise on MHPSS best practices and guide project teams in integrating MHPSS principles into evaluations, assessments, and research methodologies.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Analyze data and prepare comprehensive reports, including recommendations for improving MHPSS interventions.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other experts, stakeholders, and clients to ensure the effective implementation of research activities.
- Capacity Building: Support the development of MHPSS-related materials and resources to enhance the knowledge and skills of field staff and partners.
Requirements:
- Education:
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Mental Health, Clinical Psychology, Psychosocial Support, or related fields.
- Experience:
- At least 7 years of professional experience in MHPSS, including experience in evaluation, assessment, and research, ideally within international development, humanitarian aid, or conflict settings.
- Proven expertise in designing and implementing MHPSS assessments and evaluations, with a strong understanding of key frameworks and methodologies in the field.
- Experience in working with a range of stakeholders, including NGOs, government bodies, and international organizations.
- Languages:
- Fluency in English is required.
- Additional language skills are highly desirable, particularly Arabic, French, or Ukrainian, to support STOOS’ work in diverse regions.
Preferred Skills:
- Strong familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Experience in data analysis using tools such as SPSS, NVivo, or similar software.
- A deep understanding of cultural sensitivities and the ability to adapt research methods to local contexts.
