Overall Job Summary
The Programme Manager develops, implements and coordinates the ACT Alliance programme on Migration & Displacement, with a focus on enabling access to rights and protection for vulnerable and marginalized people on the move, including migrants, refugees, IDPs, and other uprooted populations.
Position in the organisation
- Reports to Director of Programmes
- Liaises with ACT members, ACT Forums, ACT-EU, Communities of Practice, and Reference Groups through regional staff and where relevant directly
- Facilitates ACT Alliance’s engagement with ecumenical partners
- Supports ACT Alliance’s engagement with the UN, member states, and relevant international stakeholders and processes, involved in related regional advocacy work, including partners of ACT members, and broader civil society where relevant
- Works effectively with the ACT regional teams in Bangkok, Nairobi, Amman and Bogotá, and other ACT secretariat staff based in Geneva, New York, and Brussels on issues relevant to the programme
- Leads ACT Alliance’s engagement with external stakeholders including donors related to forced displacement
Key Responsibilities
- Leads the implementation of the ACT Alliance programme on Migration and Displacement in the regions, and supports the regional teams, other colleagues and the broader Alliance to do so
- Coordinates and implements where appropriate global level components of the programme, such as involvement in networks like CMDP and the ACT Reference Group on Migration and Displacement
- Coordinates regional ACT Alliance’s migration and displacement programming and advocacy work, campaigning, including capacity building of members and forums, policy briefs, position papers, information sharing, and leads capacity-sharing and strengthening processes
- Provides technical assistance to and coordination of ACT members, and ACT national and regional Forums on migration and displacement-related topics and programming to facilitate increased collaboration and joint initiatives
- Identifies and builds internal and external partnerships for the programme, including working with and developing strategic relationships with ACT Forums and members in the regions
- Coordinates with regional Communities of Practice on Migration and Displacement
- Supports ACT Alliance engagement with international stakeholders and processes as they relate to the regional implementation of the ACT Alliance programme on Migration and Displacement, including but not limited to, UNHCR, IOM, OHCHR, regional and national level CSO groups involved in related advocacy work, including partners of ACT members, and broader civil society where relevant
- Develops project proposals to submit for possible external donors, in line with the overall ACT migration and displacement programme with support from the relevant colleagues and structures.
- Develops relevant messaging and communicates on the agenda and outcomes of the programme with internal and external stakeholders
- Monitors and reports on the implementation of the programme
Skills and experiences
- Relevant academic degree with a minimum of five years of relevant work experience, including management experience
- In-depth knowledge of key issues of forced displacement and relevant human rights law, including intersectional issues such as Human Mobility in the Context of Climate Change
- Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills, including influencing, negotiating and coaching
- Ability to manage and lead in networked working environment
- Ability to turn strategies into plans and actions
- Good understanding of the role and added value of churches and faith-based organisations
- Excellent knowledge of English and Spanish, working knowledge of French an asset.
