Under the overall guidance of the Country Manager, and in close collaboration with RC and RCO colleagues, the Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist:
Prepares or contributes to the preparation of various written reports, documents and communications, e.g. drafts sections of studies, background papers, policy guidelines, parliamentary documents, briefings, case studies, presentations, and correspondence with a particular focus on the ongoing political reform process, sustaining peace, and promoting sustainable development across the country.
Monitors, analyzes and reports on the development and humanitarian situation, disaster relief/management or emergency situations in assigned country/area.
Coordinate with programme and operations staff as relevant for preparation of briefs and talking points, for discussions with partners in relation to the work of the RCO.
Prepare and document minutes of high-level meetings with the government, development partners, and other national stakeholders, including civil society, women’s organizations, and youth networks, ensuring that discussions on conflict-sensitive programmatic engagements are meticulously recorded and actionable insights are clearly identified.
Facilitate the preparation of knowledge products, such as best practices and lessons learned on conflict prevention and peacebuilding, ensuring that the RC is equipped with organized and comprehensive documentation to support a cohesive approach within the UN Country Team and with national counterparts.
Monitoring and Progress Controls:
Peace and conflict analysis during the current situation will be conducted by the specialist
Situational analysis to be conducted within the 3 month time frame
Incident reports to be developed, if any
Knowledge products will be developed on the best practices and lessons learned
Any relevant reporting tasks assigned in relation to the security situation in the country could be additional requirement
The specialist will submit an inception report at the beginning of the assignment and a final narrative report at the end
The specialist will also submit regular monthly financial reports (IFS) for the three months and a final financial report within December 2024
a. Education An advanced university degree (master’s degree or equivalent) in political science, social science, public administration, international studies, economics, engineering, earth sciences or a related field is required. A first-level university degree in combination with 2 years’ experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
b. Work Experience
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in development, humanitarian affairs, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, rehabilitation, or other related areas is required. Experience in analysis, drafting and reporting is required
c. Language
Fluency in English is required (oral and written).
