Overview of position
- In response to the ongoing crisis in Yemen, our client provides project management & human resource services as well as implementation support for a wide range of projects on behalf of it partners.
Role objectives
Under the overall guidance of the communication team in Yemen, the consultant will work closely with the communications & program team to produce multimedia products including graphic designs & video / photo editing of the communication material requested. In particular, the consultant will:
- Transform text based communications materials into visual graphic design materials such as infographic, brochures, booklets, GIFs, postcards etc.
- Video / audio editing, music mixing & mastering for visual stories such as video / photo essay, testimonial videos, HIVS, documentaries, promote videos, etc.
- Develop designs for communication materials based on assignment briefs.
- Provide recommendations on the best & most relevant visual design style & materials suitable for the project’s target audience.
- Liaise with & report to the communications & program team regarding any visual design work.
- Any other multimedia tasks.
Examples of deliverables are:
- Project brochures.
- Project infographics.
- Project factsheets.
- Project leaflets.
- Project posters.
- Visuals for social media campaigns.
- Layout design for project reports.
- Design for project communications collaterals such as notepad, dug bag, backdrop, banners, t shirts / hats, cards, calendars, etc.
- Design for project’s presentations.
- Custom photo editing (restoration, noise reduction & tonal adjustment).
Deliverables will be required to be produced in a variety of formats including for digital, print distribution & materials installations depending on the needs of the project. If & when any of the above services will be required, our client & the consultant will agree on work input, number of working days necessary & deadline prior to commencement of work. Detailed specifications for each individual assignment will be given to the selected Designer as & when the Designer’s services are requested. For each agreed communication products assigned the contractor will:
- Design & layout the assigned communication product.
- Submit the preliminary layouts for discussion with our client.
- Revise the selected layout as discussed with our client.
- Submit a draft to our client for proof reading (up to 4 rounds of corrections to be covered under the agreement).
- Ensure all corrections have been inserted.
- Obtain a final sign off from our client before submitting electronic files to the printer.
- Prepare the electronic files for the printer.
- Send electronic files to printer & liaise with printer during printing process, receive & mark up final blueprint with final corrections from our client.
- Make final corrections to the electronic file.
- Create PDF from final electronic file for our clients web posting.
- If the project is to be done in multiple languages, the same proof reading procedure described above applies.
Project reporting
- This role reports to the line manager.
Key competencies
- Bachelor degree (is required) or a masters degree (desired) with a minimum of 2 years of experience in multimedia, digital communication, animation, or related fields.
- Advanced knowledge & skills of Microsoft (MS) Office, including light room, Adobe Photoshop, premiere & other editing tools are required.
- Solid experience in processing & editing photos & videos is required.
- Experience in working with the G-Suite platform including Google Drive, Google Calendar, Gmail, Google Sheets, Docs & Slides is desired.
- Photography & videography skills are desired.
