Digital learning is an important priority under the School Education Sector Plan (SESP) aimed at improving learning outcomes for children and a key intervention under the new country programme for UNICEF. One of the key objectives in the SESP states the “proper management of ICT tools and digital learning resources and capacity building of teachers on embedding ICT as an integral part of teaching and learning”. The SESP also aims to set up data centres and digital laboratories to expand the use of ICT in learning. This includes the training for teachers and staff through blended modes and developing interactive digital resources for different grades, interactive digital materials for people with different forms of disabilities and ensuring the provision of digital copies of curriculum and textbooks. As part of its support to the government, UNICEF will provide technical assistance to support the implementation of different Ed Tech digital learning initiatives including the capacity building of teachers on blended learning pedagogies to support improved learning outcomes and skills acquisition for older adolescents supporting learning to earning opportunities.
Purpose of the Assignment:
The consultant will provide technical assistance to support the implementation of different digital EdTech learning initiatives including supporting the design of capacity building resources for teachers on the use of blended learning pedagogies utilizing EdTech solutions.
Scope of Work:
Under the supervision of the Education Specialist (NoC) and overall guidance of the Section Chief, the consultant will conduct the following activities:
1. Device Configuration and Deployment
2. Training and Capacity Building
3. Accessibility of Content
4. Monitoring and Reporting
5. Collaboration and Coordination
Duration of the Contract: The total duration of the assignment is 12 months

Individuals engaged under a consultancy or individual contract will not be considered “staff members” under the Staff Regulations and Rules of the United Nations and UNICEF’s policies and procedures, and will not be entitled to benefits provided therein (such as leave entitlements and medical insurance coverage). Their conditions of service will be governed by their contract and the General Conditions of Contracts for the Services of Consultants and Individual Contractors. Consultants and individual contractors are responsible for determining their tax liabilities and for the payment of any taxes and/or duties, in accordance with local or other applicable laws.
The selected candidate is solely responsible to ensure that the visa (applicable) and health insurance required to perform the duties of the contract are valid for the entire period of the contract. Selected candidates are subject to confirmation of fully-vaccinated status against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid-19) with a World Health Organization (WHO)-endorsed vaccine, which must be met prior to taking up the assignment. It does not apply to consultants who will work remotely and are not expected to work on or visit UNICEF premises, programme delivery locations or directly interact with communities UNICEF works with, nor to travel to perform functions for UNICEF for the duration of their consultancy contracts.
