Across its interventions, UN Women Albania will address key thematic areas of focus in line with the Global Strategic Plan 2022-2025: ending violence against women; women’s economic empowerment; gender-responsive budgeting; gender responsive governance; as well as promoting cross-cutting principles including the principle of Leaving No One Behind, and engagement of new and emerging partners such as the private sector to advance gender equality in the country.
Communication is a vital component of the UN Women Albania Country Office’s work, serving as a key tool for enhancing the visibility of successful initiatives, results, and programs, as well as for raising awareness on critical issues related to gender equality and women’s empowerment. Effective communication requires the development of high-quality and creative visual materials for both social media and print. To support these efforts, the UN Women Albania Country Office is seeking to hire a Graphic Designer Consultant. The selected individuals will be responsible for creating graphic images and GIFs, designing various knowledge products, and ensuring that all visual content produced by UN Women Albania and its implementing partners aligns with UN Women branding and visibility guidelines.
The Graphic Designer Consultant report directly to the Communication Officer.
Duties and Responsibilities
Description of Responsibilities /Scope of Work
Under the overall supervision of the UN Women Communications Officer and in collaboration with other communication team as well as project/programme managers, the National Graphic Designer Consultant is responsible for performing the following tasks:
- Conceptualize and develop graphics and infographics to communicate key achievements. The materials should be created for specific use on web and social media and should utilize branding, color and themes of UN Women.
- Conceptualize, design and layout high-quality innovative, creative, and attention-grabbing materials, for print, social media, and website, such as infographics, data cards, illustrated explainers, publications, illustrations, print and digital campaign and advocacy materials, promotion products and any other communications materials that require creative graphic design.
- Modify, review, and edit materials as required, in consultation with the relevant UN Women Albania Communication team.
- Prepare final media files for online distribution and print.
- Conduct quality control to ensure accurate and high-quality work.
- Manage time effectively to meet deadlines of submission for each assignment, ensuring that all materials are delivered on time and meet the specified quality standards.
- Work closely with the UN Women Albania Communication team to maintain consistency in design and messaging across all digital and print platforms.
- Adapt visual materials for multilingual use, ensuring that design integrity is maintained across different languages.
Consultant’s Workplace and Official Travel
This is a home-based consultancy.
As part of this assignment, the graphic designer consultant will be required to attend the office meetings and any meetings where their expertise is needed.

FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
Functional Competencies of Graphic Design Consultant:
- Proven mastery of Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or any other relevant graphic design software.)
- Experience in developing and maintaining brand identity through consistent and cohesive design elements.
- Designing for print: thorough understanding of different file formats and color systems, as well as paper sizes, weights, and stocks.
- Proficiency in typography to select appropriate fonts and create well-structured and readable designs.
- Demonstrated creative skills in graphic design and visual storytelling to generate unique and innovative design concepts
- Very good creative skills in writing, visual and digital storytelling, video and film making.
- Very good creative skills and advanced command over a full range of graphic design software, including Adobe Suite/CC such as Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, etc.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency of the designed materials.
- Solid understanding of printing and production matters and knowledge of different formats for printing.
Required Skills and Experience
Education and Certification:
- A first-level university degree in graphic design, communications, visual arts or any other related area is required.
Experience:
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in graphic design, and layout work.
- Proven track record of developing high-impact digital illustrations, visuals, or any other communication materials at national/regional or global level.
- Experience on branding and development of communications materials related to gender equality is an asset.
- Working experience with UN and/or other international organizations is an asset.
Languages:
- Proficient in written and oral English
