Duties:

  • Provide neuropsychological evaluations in a timely fashion for patients with severe and persistent mental illness and suspected comorbid neuropsychiatric involvement.
  • Provide individual and team case consultation and assistance.
  • Provide supervision to psychometrists, practicum students, and residents in psychology, as well as psychology staff registered with the College of Psychologist of Ontario for supervised practice.
  • Work with a multi-disciplinary treatment team and professionals within the context of neuropsychology and in accordance with the Royal’s mission statement.
  • Demonstrate professional integrity through adherence to college and hospital guidelines for the practice of psychology, including; adherence to the Canadian Code of Ethics for psychologists, adherence to College of Psychologists of Ontario guidelines for registration, professional practice, professional development, supervision, communications and documentation of client contacts, as well as adherence to The Royal’s policies on timely completion of documentation and workload measurement
  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to The Royal’s Anti-Racism, Harassment & Discrimination Free policy
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Doctoral-level education from a CPA/APA accredited institution.
  • Registered with the College of Psychologists of Ontario; Autonomous practice preferred.
  • Authorized areas of practice in Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology
  • Authorized client populations in Adults
  • Minimum 2 years experience post PhD in clinical mental health practice is preferred.
  • Proficiency in neuropsychological and clinical instruments commonly used in assessment.
  • Competency and experience in a mental health setting is required.
  • Experience in an organized healthcare facility (e.g. hospital, clinic) is an asset.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric rehabilitation principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of neuropsychological assessment, interpretation and report writing is required.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to establish and maintain good working relations.
  • Knowledge of applicable legislated acts (e.g. Mental Health Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Psychology Act, etc.).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated capacity for sound clinical judgement.
  • Commitment to continuous quality improvement, best practices, and team work.
  • Effective mentoring and clinical supervision skills to support both the academic role and the clinical practice of non-registered psychology staff.
  • English level A- in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading and writing is mandatory. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.
