Job Description

The NBC News Digital team is looking to hire a Newsroom Coordinator. This role will work closely with the Senior Executive Editor of NBC News Digital and the Senior Executive Editor of Digital Video Productions to provide daily administrative support to ensure the organization is running smoothly.

As Newsroom Coordinator, you will help schedule meetings, travel arrangements and file expense reports. You will also work closely with editorial leaders across teams to standardize and execute onboarding new reporters, producers, editors to ensure that staffers have the right equipment to do their jobs, the proper tools and logins during their first few weeks with NBC.

You will also maintain office supplies, help assist during major news events, such as Election nights, communicate digital’s plans with other divisions of NBC News, and help coordinate our awards submissions.

The Newsroom Coordinator will be a key contributor to daily newsroom operations while having the opportunity to regularly pitch and write stories and work on ongoing projects across editorial teams.

The ideal candidate will be a highly organized self-starter with good instincts, strong communication skills, and a desire to jump into a fast-paced newsroom environment.

Responsibilities/Job Duties:

  • Provide administrative support for NBC News Digital leadership team, including calendar management, travel arrangements, expense reports and new hire onboarding
  • Work closely with the Senior Executive Editor of NBC News Digital and the Senior Executive Editor of Digital Video Productions on scheduling and staff communication
  • Work on special projects across news digital editorial teams 
  • Provide editorial and administrative support to teams across the newsroom, specifically for tentpole events (Elections, Awards Ceremonies, Olympics, etc.)

This job is based in New York and is a hybrid work schedule, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

Qualifications

  • Clear communication skills and an instinct for anticipating and solving problems.
  • Ability to quickly learn how the newsroom works and develop partnerships with stakeholders across NBC News.
  • Ability to juggle multiple requests at once from several newsroom leaders
  • Experience with journalism (ie. college coursework, university newspaper, or internships.)

Additional Requirements

  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
