Watch this short video to see NRC in action.
NRC USA was established in 2016 with the main objective of strengthening the US profile, outreach and impact of the Norwegian Refugee Council’s humanitarian programming.
NRC is looking to leverage the foundations and philanthropic sector to provide funding and strategic partnerships that improve the lives of people displaced by conflict. The role will work with the NRC USA Executive Director and NRC’s Private Sector Partnership section to develop, monitor, and implement NRC’s corporate and private foundation relationships, policies and strategies in the US. This includes responsibility for creating and sustaining one-on-one relationships with US-based foundations and philanthropists and providing leadership, capacity building and guidance to ensure robust multi-year relationships are created at all levels of the organization that are impactful and give good return on investment.
The US Foundations and Philanthropy Advisor is responsible for delivering private foundations commitments in the US, as well as contributing to the wider Private Sector Partnership section and organizational goals. The US Foundations and Philanthropy Advisor will work across all of NRC, engaging staff with different competencies, cultures and understanding to develop ideas on ways foundations can provide value to NRC’s work.
The US Foundations and Philanthropy Advisor is expected to go out and find new relationships with US-based foundations and philanthropists, which often have not heard of NRC. Like a sales organization, the most critical result is delivering resources that exceed the return on investment of the cost of the post. The US Foundations and Philanthropy Advisor is expected to ‘get out there’ to find new potential US-based corporate and private foundations and philanthropists. They are both a leader within NRC in their area of expertise and a team player contributing their depth and breadth of experience.
The US Foundations and Philanthropy Advisor will be part of NRC USA which sits within the NRC Partnerships and Policy Department (P and P). The US Foundations and Philanthropy Advisor will be supervised by the Executive Director of NRC USA, with a strong technical reporting line to the Global Lead of Private Sector Partnerships and the Private Sector Partnership section. The Private Sector Partnership section is part of the Private Fundraising Department and is responsible for building strong relationships and delivering partnerships with the private sector (corporations, private foundations and philanthropists) that generate resources (cash, skills, joint ventures, innovative finance) to enable NRC to deliver its mission.
We are looking for people who are passionate about helping refugees and people forced to flee. Are you one of those people? If you are, NRC offers you the opportunity to:
