Park Nicollet is looking to hire a Diabetes Educator Specialist (RN) to join our team! Come join us as a Partner for Good and help us make an impact on the care and experience that our patients and their families receive every day.
This position is responsible for providing individual or group diabetes self-management care and education for people with diabetes. The position serves as the primary resource to the interdisciplinary team in assessment, education and management for people with diabetes.
On-call position. Previous pediatric experience preferred.
Work Schedule:
On-call 8:30-5
Required Qualifications:
- BA, BS, or AD, in Nursing
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as an RN is required
- Licensure/ Registration/ Certification:
- Current RN licensure in the state of Minnesota
- Current national certification as a Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist (CDCES) is required or ability to become certified within 24 months of hire.
- BLS provider status in accordance with American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines
- This position requires familiarity and compliance with matters of law, regulations and internal policies, infection control, confidentiality affecting employment.
- This position requires direct patient contact: demonstrates knowledge of age-related growth and development principles necessary to provide appropriate service and assure safety of patients.
- Proven proficiency in the operation of the following: telephone, photocopier, fax machine, PNHS network systems, personal computer (utilizing word processing, and other software as needed) Acquire proficiency in variety of glucose monitoring technologies and insulin delivery systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five years’ experience as an RN is preferred
- The qualified candidate will possess strong assessment and problem-solving skills.
- Understand and apply teaching/learning principles.
- Work independently yet supportive of team members.
- Possess effective communication skills.
- Work in concert with team members and interdisciplinary staff.
