The United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) is part of the UN Secretariat, responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coordinated response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response efforts. OCHA”s mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate for the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention; and facilitate sustainable solutions. OCHA ROMENA in Amman -Administration Unit seeks a highly motivated and creative individual to join its Administrative Team as an ICT Intern. The main duties and responsibilities of the Intern would be the following: Technical Infrastructure and Systems Support: Assisting in ensuring seamless functionality of hardware and software systems, supporting the technical infrastructure, and helping maintain a secure and efficient operating environment for OCHA staff in Amman. Hardware Setup, Maintenance, and Event Support: supporting the installation, configuration, and routine maintenance of computer systems and peripherals, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices. They will assist in setting up workstations for staff, ensuring compliance with established hardware standards and software deployment procedures. The intern will also support the preparation and provision of ICT equipment, as well as provide technical assistance during meetings, training sessions, and conferences. Applications Support and Connectivity: In addition to end-user support, the intern will contribute to the administration of office applications, file-sharing services, and connectivity tools, ensuring stable access to the internet, email, and enterprise systems. They will assist in monitoring system performance, reporting issues, and applying solutions under guidance. The intern will also support the implementation of cybersecurity practices, including basic protection against malware, secure data handling, and backup procedures. Asset Management, Helpdesk Support, and Operational Assistance: The intern will also help maintain ICT inventory records, track asset movement, and support documentation processes related to ICT supplies and infrastructure. Additionally, they will participate in helpdesk functions, responding to staff requests, logging incidents, and following up on resolution status. The intern may be assigned other responsibilities that contribute to the overall efficiency of the ICT function and its alignment with the mission of OCHA in the region.
