In this role, you will : 

Responsibility 1 – Information Management in Humanitarian Services

  • Responsible for consistent documentation of metrics and calculations and their methodologies to ensure reliability and replicability and to support a “single source of truth” of data and information within Humanitarian Services (HS).
  • Ensures compliance of IM products and processes with applicable CRC data governance standards.
  • Ensures and enforce that reports use common templates and indicators; recommend to IM leadership where adaptations are necessary.
  • Designs and maintains data collection mechanisms within assigned team/operation; responsible for monitoring their data quality, orients program staff to required data management efforts.

Responsibility 2 – Information Management in Humanitarian Operations

  • Act as the IM focal point within assigned Canadian Red Cross emergency operations.
  • Defines and develops the situational awareness needs and gaps of the operation.
  • Proactively validates situational awareness needs with relevant focal points (e.g. operations, logistics, Indigenous community relations specialists).
  • Maintain documentation and orientation materials on IM processes to enable handover of IM and reporting duties during relief operations.

Responsibility 3 – Business Continuity and Improvement

  • Act as IM technical focal point for project management tools (e.g., Jira) and their usage and optimization as related to the IM team and its products.
  • Define business continuity strategies for data and reporting products and processes.
  • Propose opportunities for integrating enhancements (e.g., automation, new datasets, etc) appropriately and responsibly for Humanitarian Services.
  • Facilitate IM learning sessions before, during, and after emergency responses to better enable Humanitarian Services personnel to engage with IM data and reporting tools and processes.

What are we looking for :

  • University degree in a Social Science field, or lived experience in the duties of the role.
  • Minimum three (3) years practical reporting experience, including data management and automation.
  • Experience as a part of an emergency management or humanitarian sector team an asset.
  • Experience with data visualization tools, PowerBI in particular, an asset.
  • Experience with qualitative analysis and humanitarian assessment and analysis an asset.
  • Knowledge of project management software such as Jira considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of survey design, data collection and analysis (quantitative and qualitative).
  • Familiarity with the DEEP (Data Entry and Exploration Platform) or similar an asset.
  • Knowledge and passion for data and an understanding how to use data responsibly and ethically in decision-making.
  • Familiarity with prompting Microsoft Copilot or other generative artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots an asset.
  • Familiarity with GIS tools, ArcGIS Online, ArcPro and QGIS in particular, an asset.
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and translate it into business priorities and needs.
  • Ability to take initiative and lead concurrent projects with demonstrated project management experience.
  • Exceptional organizational, time management, technical and numeracy skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English required, French is a strong asset.

Working Conditions :

  • Work may include long to moderate hours sitting and using computers/office equipment.
  • May be required to work non-traditional hours, be on-call and respond to emergency / disaster related requests.
  • This role may require domestic and overseas travel.
