We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Onshore Civil Engineer (Package Manager) to oversee the onshore civil engineering package for a large-scale floating wind farm project. The role will involve managing all civil works, including land route development, trenching, substation construction, and contract management. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of the onshore civil package, from conceptual design through to execution, ensuring high quality, budget control, and contractual compliance.The ideal candidate will have at least 10 years of experience managing large civil engineering projects, with a strong focus on contract management and a background in an Owner’s Engineer or similar role.Key Responsibilities:
- Package Management: Lead the onshore civil engineering package, overseeing the design, planning, execution, and project closeout phases.
- Contract Management:
- Draft, negotiate, and manage contracts with civil contractors and suppliers, ensuring adherence to timelines, budget, and quality standards.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure contractual compliance, including milestones, deliverables, and safety standards.
- Resolve contractual disputes, implement changes, and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Land Route & Cable Infrastructure: Supervise the design and construction of land routes for cable installation, including trenching, ducting, and land development.
- Substation Construction: Manage the civil engineering components of the onshore substation, ensuring compliance with industry standards and environmental regulations.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with landowners, local authorities, contractors, and project teams to ensure smooth execution of civil works.
- Project Execution: Ensure civil works are completed on time and within budget, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate risks associated with civil construction, land development, and contract execution.
- Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all civil works comply with local regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines. Provide regular project updates and reports to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience managing large-scale civil engineering projects, with a focus on contract management (offshore wind experience is not essential).
- Proven track record in substation design, trenching, and cable routing.
- Demonstrated experience in drafting, negotiating, and managing contracts with contractors and suppliers for large infrastructure projects.
- Background in an Owner’s Engineer or similar role, ensuring project delivery from both a technical and contractual perspective.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in civil engineering design software and contract management tools.
- Strong knowledge of civil engineering construction standards, regulations, and contractual frameworks.
- Familiarity with legal aspects of contracts, including claims management, change orders, and dispute resolution.
- Leadership & Communication:
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, particularly in dealing with contractors and stakeholders.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in contract negotiations for large-scale infrastructure projects, including EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) contracts.
- Familiarity with the integration of civil, electrical, and mechanical systems in infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards in civil construction.
