Operational Excellence Leader – Berea, KY

Vitro Automotive Glass produces advanced glass products for the world’s most well-known automotive manufacturers. We work collaboratively with our customers to ensure that our glass provides the safety, comfort, efficiency required for today’s modern vehicles.

We have an exciting opening for an operational excellence leader (VOPEX) at our Berea, KY facility. The purpose of this position is to promote and implement projects to generate value and improve the performance of processes in the Business through the Application of Operational Excellence principles, works as the SME (Subject Matter Expert) to provide coach, support, and train others in the VOPEX methodology to have qualified employees to support current and future requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Participate/collaborate in the Daily management (Staff meetings, War room, Gemba walk, etc.) plant activities.
• Deploy operational excellence tools / Lean manufacturing tools through perform projects in the shop floor, creating at first a pilot area in which others can learn how the tools are working properly then cascade to the rest areas with a clear plan and milestones to be achieved.
• Work with the Leadership team to make sure the resources (Budget, People, Material, Time etc..) are on place to deploy operational excellence / Lean manufacturing tools among the plant.
• Provide coach, support, train and certify others in the Operational excellence methodologies to have qualified employees to support current and future requirements.
• Collect data to provide information (VOPEX Package, Plant initiatives progress, Projects reports, etc.) that support the efforts done to implement the Operational excellence initiatives and reports weekly, monthly, yearly during weekly, monthly, and yearly calls to the executives.
• Work with plant manager to define, assign, document, track, evaluate and recognize people that are working towards a project completion.
• Create, deploy and follow up a road map to support the execution of the maturity level goal for each VOPEX initiative to achieve at the end of the year.

education REQUIREMENTS:

• Language required: English
• Required education: Bachelor’s degree with specialty in industrial engineering, mechanic administrator, electrical mechanic experience and knowledge in manufacturing, quality, and maintenance is a must.
• Years of experience required: 3 years of operational excellence experience (Lean Manufacturing)

JOB RELATED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

a) 6 sigma Green and/or Black Belt Knowledge

b) Successful project application of operational excellence (5S, Problem solving, Std Work, TPM, Daily Management, Safety, Training) in manufacturing, support areas and customers/ suppliers.

c) Decision making based in Statistical Data.

d) Lean Tools (5S, Problem solving, Std Work, TPM, Daily Management, Safety, Training, Balance table, Andon, etc.)
