We are seeking someone to manage our Global Corporate & Specialty (GCS) Renewable Energy team and lead the Technical Proposition for Commercial Lines (Mid-Market & GCS). This person will be responsible and accountable for the Renewable Energy proposition for all technologies (offshore and onshore wind, battery energy storage systems, solar, hydrogen, hydro etc.), managing the team and its performance, enabling a cross-collaborative risk engineering approach with other areas of the business, delivery of technical advice and managing key accounts.

This role is also part of the Aviva Risk Management Solutions Leadership Team and in this capacity, you will be a role model. A key objective of this exciting role is to further develop and deliver first-class risk management which supports the Company’s intention to be the leading insurer in its chosen market.

This role is home-based and flexible, in that it can be in the UK but may require travel into the London Office on a regular (e.g. weekly) basis

A bit about the job:

• Responsible and accountable for the risk engineering proposition and services for a market leading portfolio, for all Renewable Energy technologies including providing innovative solutions to our customers to help prevent loss and reduce exposure.
• Managing a team of at least 4 home-based Risk Consultants, servicing UK and International customers to ensure the highest level of service is delivered.
• Working closely with the Underwriting, Claims and Client Relationship teams, managing and co-ordinating risks and handling technical referrals from customers and colleagues.
• Supporting new business wins and client retention through presentations and account stewardship reporting. Developing an external network of relationships and ensuring risk management is understood by customers and the market.
• Being and integral member of the Aviva Risk Management Solutions Leadership Team and enhancing the proposition, including leading on sector thought leadership.

Skills and experience we’re looking for:

• Renewable Energy technical, and ideally operational and maintenance experience in one or more of the key technologies – offshore and onshore wind, battery energy storage systems, solar etc.
• Highly developed presentation and customer engagement skills, with experience at influencing and negotiating.
• Excellent co-ordination skills and experience of leading and delivering risk engineering programmes.
• Leadership experience.
• Keeping abreast of technological advances, being able to develop ideas, drive change and be accountable in an area of the business with a changing landscape.
