Basic Function
The Operations Intern supports day-to-day operations at the Louisiana Integrated Polyethylene Joint Venture LyondellBasell plant, located in Westlake, Louisiana. The selected candidate(s) will be part of the operations team and will work under the direction of the Operations Supervisors, Team Leads, and Unit Management. All work will be performed with oversight from a designated site Operator.

Anticipated 12-week Internship Dates: May 18, 2026, through August 7, 2026

Roles & Responsibilities
* Maintaining proper and safe process operations of the operating equipment
* Taking samples/readings of various process streams
* Initiating work orders and supporting permitting for the assigned unit
* Communicating effectively during the shift and at shift relief regarding key process unit and equipment information
* Supporting routine plant maintenance where necessary, as instructed
* Ensuring accurate and timely completion of all required paperwork
* Staying abreast of all changes in operations and procedures
* Performing operational duties in accordance with local operations procedures
* Completing mandated safety and regulatory training (Computer-Based Training)
* Maintaining effective and professional relationships with all coworkers and responding appropriately to their requests
* Performing environmental and regulatory checks, eliminating, containing and reporting product or chemical leaks, seeps and spills
* Following safety rules, participating in a GoalZERO culture

Min. Qualifications
* High School diploma or GED
* 18 years of age or older
* Must at a minimum be enrolled in their last year in a Process Technology degree plan from an accredited school
* Process Technology graduates may apply if degree was received within one year, up to and including Spring graduates from prior year
* Must maintain an overall and semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
* Must have a valid driver’s license and must provide own transportation to and from work
* Willing and able to work outside under various weather conditions
* Able to work 12-hour rotating shifts (which may include nights, weekends and some holidays)
* Capable of climbing (scaffolds, towers, vessels, etc.), working in a confined space and from elevated platforms, and lift up to 50 pounds
* Able to wear appropriate protective equipment
* Possess the critical competencies for this position: communication, teamwork, problem solving and decision-making, results orientation, initiative, relationship building, and technological orientation
* Basic computer skills are a requirement for this position
* Must successfully pass pre-employment screening process, including fitness-for-duty requirements
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident).
