Location: Hybrid – Must work and live in the state of Michigan

Purpose: This position will assist with the outreach , expansion of and the development of parent and youth peer continuum of services including Parent Support Partner and Youth Peer Support. As a parent or caregiver with lived experience, this position is designed to gather feedback from those with lived experience and implement that feedback within impacted policies and programs. This position will partner with the BCCHPS Peer Services Outreach and Expansion Analyst and Association for Children’s Mental Health to develop the peer delivered services continuum for children, youth and their families. This position will also support the incorporation of family voice with the Bureau of Children’s Coordinated Health Policy and Supports through participation in policy development and collaboration with Bureau partners around service enhancement.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Partner with the BCCHPS Peer Services Outreach and Expansion Analyst to grow the peer service continuum for children, youth with SED and their families. Outreach efforts for expansion of existing peer services along with assessing gap areas within the peer continuum.
• Partner with other BCCHPS staff to facilitate and coordinate the inclusion of parents, caregivers with lived experience into policy and decision-making discussions at MDHHS.
• Utilize their lived experience as a parent and/or caregiver to support a family driven youth guided perspective within the Bureau of Children’s Coordinated Health Policy and Supports. This would include co-presenting at Bureau meetings on Family-Driven, Youth-Guided policy and philosophy and providing the insights of lived experience in other internal workgroups.
• Collaborate with other Bureau staff to identify knowledge gaps and barriers within service delivery and policies. Provide insights into potential areas for improvement based on community input from family voice and personal experiences.
• Work closely with the BCCHPS Peer Services Outreach and Expansion Analyst to monitor and support the contractual partnership with Association of Children’s Mental Health (ACMH) for program expansion; develop and implement a program expansion plan; provide program outreach and support; provide training and technical assistance to county level programs; develop and maintain associated policies and program guidance, including Medicaid policy; develop, implement and monitor network adequacy standards, identify and analyze program related data to support program modifications; and contract oversight to ensure network adequacy and model fidelity.

Qualifications/Requirements:

education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school and the equivalent of at least two years of full-time active-duty experience at or above the E-6 level in the uniformed services may be substituted for the education requirement.

Equivalent combinations of education and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities will be evaluated on an individual basis.

Experience: A parent or primary caregiver who is raising or has raised a child/youth with emotional, behavioral, and/or mental health challenges.

Important Skills and Characteristics:

• Self-motivated and directed.
• Comfortable with providing presentations, trainings and technical assistance.
• Strong organizational skills, and strong communication skills (verbal, written, electronic, etc.).
• Works well with a range of professionals, system partners and parents/caregivers.
• Ability to foster, encourage and communicate values of family driven, youth guided practice and policy.
• Ability to use software applications (i.e., database, spreadsheets, word processing, and presentation programs) at proficient level.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements: The position may require moderate physical effort including lifting materials and equipment of <50# and involves viewing a CRT or VDT screen 25% to 75% o f the time. Standard office environment. May require valid vehicle operator’s license to perform duties of the position. Travel within the state, as needed, including Upper Peninsula; anticipated to travel for the project technical assistance meetings (out of state) as scheduled. </span>
