How can you make a difference?
The purpose of the Partnerships Consultant position is to support the Myanmar Country Office (MCO) in deepening collaboration with key resource partners and helping to provide an interface for environmental scanning, knowledge exchange, resource mobilization, and policy influence within the scope of the assignment.
The Consultant gathers, analyses and reports information in a manner that draws out fact-based insights to inform approaches to partner relationships and supports substantive discussion with partners. S/he captures relevant information and progress and ensures internal information sharing. This will strengthen the credibility of the organization which in turn will result in trust and an increase of funding opportunities.
Scope of Work:
Under the overall supervision of the Public Partnership Specialist, the Consultant will support MCO to enhance partnerships and engage effectively with resource partners. Within the scope of the work, the key expected outputs include:
- Support relationship management with donors by assisting with donor engagement events (e.g. donor briefings and project site visits) through administrative and logistical support, note-taking, and information sharing
- Support programme coordination in meeting donor requirements, including collaborating with partnerships at both the regional office and headquarters to manage a high volume of communications
- Maintain up-to-date information on partner and income trends, analyse development assistance policies, and keep resource partner profiles updated (e.g. Updates in the MCO partner relations management tracker, RM action plan, UNISON)
- Assist with the preparation of resource mobilization and partnership information materials (e.g. investment cases) to provide partners on the strategy, design, relevance, and impact of programmes, to advocate the work of UNICEF.
- Gather and share inputs with regional office and headquarters to ensure that UNICEF positions are properly explained and taken into account in decision-making at the regional and HQ levels.
- Contribute to ideas for opportunities to develop new and existing synergies with other UN agencies to support a more effective and efficient approach to programme delivery.
- Collate and share relevant discussion and feedback on programme activities and issues of priority to UNICEF, gathered from partners, to engage them with discussion and inform further activities.
- Maintain awareness of current activities, political and social events of UN and other partners, conduct analysis to understand how they may impact UNICEF activities and programmes, and provide timely information to UNICEF staff for decision-making.
- Conduct research on prospective new partners for UNICEF, and provide analysis of the areas of work, outreach, financial background, and reputation of prospective partners
Duration Of Assignment: 12 Months
Duty station/Geographic Area: Yangon (remote/home-based). The consultant may need to be physically present in the office for meetings/events as needed.
Description of Assignment:
Task 1: Support resource mobilization efforts, which include:
- Support programme coordination in meeting donor requirements, including collaborating with partnerships at both the regional office and headquarters to manage a high volume of communications
- Maintain up-to-date information on partner and income trends, analyse development assistance policies, and update resource partner profiles
- Assist with the preparation and dissemination of resource mobilization and partnership information materials (e.g. investment cases) to advocate UNICEF’s work.
Deliverable 1: Monthly reports that include updates on:
- Timely responses to donor queries, documents/resources and updates to donors
- Up-to-date information on partner and income trends and resource partners, including the MCO partner mailing list, partner relations management tracker, RM action plan, UNISON, etc.
- RM and partner information materials, including investment cases
Timeline: Monthly
Task 2: Support relationship management with donors by assisting with donor engagement events through administrative and logistical support, note-taking, and information sharing.
Deliverable 2: Quarterly donor briefing materials (including invitations, concept notes, presentation slides, invite lists, and meeting notes), donor meetings/site visits and relevant materials

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Education: University degree in political science, social studies, communication, journalism, public relations, social sciences, development, planning, business administration, knowledge, communication, or a related field. Knowledge and experience in gender and/or education is a plus.
Experience:
- At least two years of professional experience in partnerships, resource mobilization, programme management, external relations, communications, or related fields.
- Experience in partnership development and resource mobilization, including donor engagement, fundraising, and long-term partner relationship management.
- Proven organizational skills, with the ability to conceptualize, plan, and execute complex tasks while managing multiple priorities.
- Experience managing donor relationships, ensuring alignment with UNICEF’s priorities and fostering trust and accountability.
- Strong coordination skills, ensuring efficient follow-up and integration of feedback from meetings, calls, and documentation.
- Familiarity with the UN system and international donor landscape, including key UN agencies and international financial institutions.
- Knowledge of humanitarian and development issues, particularly strategies, policies, and programmes relevant to UNICEF’s mission.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with experience preparing high-quality briefing and meeting notes for various audiences.
- Track record of building and maintaining partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Independent and team-oriented, with flexibility, accountability, and initiative in delivering results.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment, fostering effective collaboration across diverse teams.
